Are you a student who is eager to make a difference?

With a growing global demand for high-quality bovine genetics and sustainable breeding practices, there has never been a more crucial time to nurture talented individuals with a passion for genetic improvement in livestock. It is for that reason that the NAAB Doak Graduate Fellowships was established. This Fellowship is a unique opportunity that has the potential to shape the future of bovine agriculture.

This Fellowship is intended for individuals who are excited to pursue a career in bovine male reproductive physiology or bovine genetics. The Fellowship is open to any candidate, American or international, who has completed or will complete a 4-year degree or equivalent and is open to pursue an advanced degree at a major university in The United States of America.

Deadline for 2026 Application: December 1st, 2025

Who Should Apply?

Successful candidates must meet the following criteria:

Must have a B.S. in related field from an accredited university.

Student is currently not enrolled in a Masters' or PhD study.

  1. 3

Student must start their Fellowship Masters' study within the 2025 calendar year.

  1. 4

Research project must be centric to the improvement and support of bovine artificial insemination.

  1. 5

Student must remain continuously enrolled in the program for remaining funding to be awarded.

  1. 6

Student must be able to study on-site.

  1. 7

International students are eligible. Receipt of the fellowship is conditional on obtaining a study visa within 6 months of the award date and the ability to travel to the USA.

Top candidates should exhibit strong work ethic, resourcefulness, commitment, persistence, industry knowledge, research experience, and vision for the future.

  • Academic transcripts and resume

  • Contact details for three references (will only be contacted if applicant is selected as finalist)

  • A cover letter (maximum 2 pages) addressing your qualifications and your motivation:

    • Why are you excited about the future of the dairy and/or beef industry? What is your vision for the future? Convince us that you are the person who will help realize this future.  

    • What is the research topic you would like to present?
